FRANKLIN, Wis. — Fr. Jose Rodriguez-Carballo, OFM, the Order’s General Minister, visited Assumption Province recently. News of the visit was reported in the Dec. 8 issue of the Provincial Newsletter.
Traveling with General Definitor Fr. Frank Walter, OFM, Fr. Jose began by visiting the Custody of the Holy Family in Chicago. From there, he traveled to Waterford, Wis., to visit the offices of the General Secretariat of the Franciscan Missions.
Fr. Jose especially asked to visit friars at the Queen of Peace friary, where retired and infirmed friars continue to have a vital role in the Order.
In meetings with the GSFM, Fr. Jose asked for funds to support the implantatio Ordinis in the Sudan and Myanmar, according to the newsletter. These are new initiatives with OFM candidates in areas struggling to support their candidates.
