The Catholic News Service reports that the restoration of the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi has been completed, more than eight years after the earthquake there.
CNS reports that the restorers were able to recompose many of the images, but others were simpy too damaged. Only 20 percent of the image of St. Matthew above the main altar, for example, was able to be put back into place.
