SILVER SPRING, Md. — Beginning May 23, HNP friars in formation at Holy Name College will move to Province ministries in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland and Virginia for summer assignments. The Province’s director of post-novitiate formation, Thomas Conway, OFM, has announced the ministry placements of six friars.
Summer Assignments
• Ross Chamberland, OFM, will spend the summer at Holy Name of Jesus Church on 96th Street in New York.
• Gerald Hopeck, OFM, will serve at St. Francis International School in Silver Spring.
• Jeffery Jordan, OFM, will live at Holy Name College while serving at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Triangle, Va.
• Michael Reyes, OFM, will serve at St. Anthony Shrine and Ministry Center in Boston.
Yearlong Internships
Next week, two friars will also be starting yearlong internships.
• Mario Gomez, OFM, will serve at St. Anthony Shrine for his 2011 to 2012 internship year.
• Edgardo Zea, OFM, will work and study at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., for his internship.
Solemn Profession
Two friars will participate in the traditional interprovincial solemn vow retreat starting next month.
Stephen DeWitt, OFM, and Daniel Horan, OFM, both natives of Upstate New York, are concluding internships at St. Anne’s Parish in Lima, Peru, and Siena College. Prior to professing solemn vows Aug. 27 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York, they will spend June 16 to July 15 on retreat at Old Mission Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif.
