Assignments of Holy Name College Friars

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Thomas Conway, OFM, director of the Province’s post-novitiate formation, has announced the summer assignments of seven friars.

To celebrate the transitions of the five brothers leaving Holy Name College, student friars hosted a graduation and farewell party on May 10. Approximately 50 guests  — including Provincial Ministers John O’Connor, OFM, and Fr. John Hardin, OFM, of St. Barbara Province, California — attended the luau.

Ross Chamberland, OFM, and Br. Damian Park, OFM, graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, Jeffery Jordan, OFM, and Br. Geoffrey Muga, FMH, graduated from the Washington Theological Union, andMichael Reyes, OFM, is leaving for a year-long internship.

New Locations
• John Aherne, OFM, is serving at Mt. Irenaeus in Western New York for the summer.

• Two friars — Ross and Jeffery — are serving at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y., for one year.

• Michael Reyes, OFM, is serving at HNP ministries in Wilmington, Del., for one year.

• Jeffery, John and Michael will also participate in programs at the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University.

Continuing Ministry
The following friars will continue activities in which they were participating in during the academic year:

• George Camacho, OFM, is studying at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.

• Gerald Hopeck, OFM, is serving as vice principal of St. Francis International School in Silver Spring. He will also attend the Conference for Extraordinary Educators in Chicago.

• Jeffrey Upshaw, OFM, is assisting with maintenance work at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington.
