Arch Street Friars Begin the Lenten Journey

John Maganzini Around the Province

BOSTON – On Feb. 26 after the 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses, Frank McHugh spoke at “A Little Something After Mass,” a new endeavor in the Shrine’s Franciscan Adult School. After the Masses, a continental breakfast is served and a half-hour presentation is given. Frank’s topic was “The Meaning of Lent in the Franciscan Tradition.”

On Feb. 27, the friars had their Day of Prayer in preparation for Lent at Miramar Retreat House in Duxbury, Mass. The day included Morning Prayer, lunch, time for quiet reflection and Liturgy. During the day, Frank offered his talk on the meaning of Lent to the friar community. The day closed with a dinner buffet at Zita’s Cafe, directly across the street from the Shrine.
