NEW YORK — The eighth annual Fr. Mychal Judge Walk of Remembrance, which retraces the last steps of Mychal Judge, OFM, and remembers all who died on Sept. 11, 2001, will be held Sept. 5 beginning with a Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street. It will feature a new DVD about Mychal, who died at the World Trade Center and who ministered to the people of New York and North Jersey for many years.

The DVD, being produced by Mychal’s Message, is titled “The Last Homily.” It will contain Mychal’s last homily, given on Sept. 10, 2001 as well as the homily given by Michael Duffy, OFM, at Mychal’s funeral on Sept. 15 of that year; Mychal reciting the Prayer of St. Francis; and many photos of Mychal, according to Kelly Lynch, co-founder of Mychal’s Message.

Christopher Keenan, OFM, chaplain of the New York City Fire Department, will celebrate the 9:30 a.m. liturgy. The Mass will be followed by a procession, led by Stephen McDonald, a disabled police detective who was a friend of Mychal, to the site of the World Trade Center.

Lynch, whose family became acquainted with Mychal as parishioners at St. Joseph Parish in East Rutherford, N.J., wrote a children’s book about Mychal in 2007 titled He Said Yes.
