Prior to joining the Province’s formation program, Matthew lived in Cumming, Georgia, where he worked as a Lyft driver. A 2019 graduate of the University of Georgia, he holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He actively attended the Church of Holy Vietnamese Martyrs in Norcross, where he served as a catechist and youth volunteer in the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement. He was also a volunteer youth mentor at Mentor Me! After learning about the friars of Holy Name Province, Matt began considering Franciscan life and the priesthood.
Br. Daniel Cruz, OFM
Prior to joining the Franciscan friars, Daniel worked as a distribution supervisor for TJX Companies in Athens, Ga. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2017 from the University of Carolina, having double-majored in marketing and management science with a minor in international studies.
Daniel feels called to the priesthood. Before joining the friars, he enjoyed working with confirmation classes at the University of Georgia’s Catholic Center. He is interested in joining the Franciscans because of their care for the poor, social justice work, hospitality, and community life.
