Br. Abraham Joseph, OFM

Br. Abraham was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He came to the U.S. in 2000, and completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Monroe College in the Bronx, N.Y.

Prior to entering Holy Name Province's Franciscan Postulancy Program, Br. Abraham worked as an accountant at the September 11th Families Association in Manhattan.

As he got to know the friars at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manhattan, where he was a Eucharistic minister, server, and RCIA sponsor, Br. Abraham was impressed by the way they ministered to people in need.

"The friars are always sensitive about dignifying the human being," he says. "By their work, they are making the world a better place. They are continuing the work of Jesus Christ."

Br. Abraham professed his final vows on Aug. 25, 2018. In preparation for ordination, he is studying theology at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He also hopes to obtain a degree in social work.
