Br. Stephen Schweighardt, OFM, was born on Oct. 5, 1986 in Balinzka, Hungary. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1920, professing temporary vows one year later. He made his solemn profession in 1924.

He served the communities in Paterson, N.J., Croghan, N.Y., and Buffalo, N.Y., for 25 years as a dedicated cook.

Br. Stephen died Oct. 14, 1949 in Buffalo, N.Y. He was 53 years old and a professed friar for 28 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
