Fr. Richard Harold, OFM, was born July 1, 1898 in Rochester, N.Y. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1919, professing temporary vows one year later. Fr. Richard made his solemn profession in 1923 and was ordained in 1926.

He ministered in East Rutherford and at other parishes in New Jersey. Fr. Richard’s final years of parochial ministry were spent at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New York City.

He died on March 4, 1972 in New York City. Fr. Richard was 73 years old, a professed friar for 51 years and a priest for 45 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
