Paul Danehy, OFM

1916 – 1950
Fr. Paul Danehy, OFM, was born May 16, 1916 in Dorchester, Mass. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Parish, Paterson, N.J., in 1941 and professed temporary vows one year later. Fr. Paul made his solemn profession in 1945 and was ordained in 1947.
During his few years as a priest, Fr. Paul served as assistant director of the Secular Franciscans at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New York City. He was a zealous promoter of devotion to our Sorrowful Mother.
He died on April 15, 1950 at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York City. Fr. Paul was 33 years old, a professed friar for seven years and a priest for nearly three years.
