Kevin Walsh

1903 –

Fr. Kevin Walsh, OFM, was born June 30, 1903 in Sharon, Pa. He attended St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, N.Y., and entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1922. He professed temporary vows one year later, made his solemn profession in 1926 and was ordained in 1929.

He was sent to St. Anthony’s in Rome to study dogmatic theology and after receiving his degree in 1933, he returned to St. Bonaventure University, where he taught theology, philosophy and modern languages. He also taught at Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y., until serious illness forced him to discontinue teaching, after which he returned to St. Bonaventure Friary, Allegany, N.Y.

He died on March 24, 1964 at St. Francis Hospital, Olean, N.Y. Fr. Kevin was 60 years old, a professed friar for 40 years and a priest for 34 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
