Kevin Fox, OFM

1919 – 1970
Fr. Kevin Fox, OFM, was born on May 29, 1919 in New York City. His family lived near Holy Cross Parish in the Bronx, N.Y. After graduating from Holy Cross Grammar School, he entered St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y. He was received into the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1938, professing temporary vows one year later. He made his solemn profession in 1942 and was ordained in 1944.
His first assignment was to Christ the King Seminary, Allegany, N.Y., where he served as prefect. In 1947, he began to teach at nearby St. Bonaventure College in the department of classical languages.
During his 25 years at St. Bonaventure, Fr. Kevin served in various administrative capacities: registrar, assistant dean, acting dean and dean of the evening division. He also served as director of the band and chorus, and director of student placement. After 25 years at St. Bonaventure, Fr. Kevin was assigned to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Greenwood Lake, N.J.
He died there on Dec. 11, 1970. Fr. Kevin was 51 years old, a professed friar for 31 years and a priest for 26 years. He was the older brother of Fr. Walter Fox, OFM.
