Kevin Farrell, OFM

1910 – 1986
Fr. Kevin Farrell, OFM, was born on May 2, 1910 in Burlington, N.J. The third of 11 children, Fr. Kevin graduated from St. Joseph’s Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y., and entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1933. He professed temporary vows one year later, made his solemn profession in 1937 and was ordained in 1941.
He began his parochial ministry in 1942 at St. Joseph Parish in East Rutherford, N.J. Throughout the next 30 years, he ministered in Atlanta, Pensacola, Fla., Garwood, Little Falls, Paterson, and Wanaque, N.J., the Bronx and Buffalo, N.Y., Statesville and Winston-Salem, N.C., and Emporia, Va. He also served as curator at Point Lookout, N.Y. A parish man, Fr. Kevin loved people, and they loved him in return. He brought joyfulness wherever he ministered.
He died on Dec. 25, 1986 at the infirmary in Warwick, N.Y. Fr. Kevin was 76 years old, a professed friar for 52 years, and a priest for 45 years.
