John O'Connell, OFM

1890 – 1919
Br. John O’Connell, OFM, was born Sept. 23, 1890 in Antrim, Pa. He graduated from St. Bonaventure’s College, Allegany, N.Y., and established a career as a teacher, and then superintendent of schools in Tioga County, Pa.
He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1917 and professed temporary vows one year later. He died during the flu epidemic on April 14, 1919 in Newark, N.J. Br. John was 28 years old and in the first year of profession.
