Br. John Chrysostom McKeown, OFM, was born Nov. 26, 1909 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary in Paterson, N.J., in 1933, professing temporary vows one year later.

Before completing his course in philosophy, Br. John died on Jan. 15, 1936 in Paterson. He was 26 years old, a simply professed friar for two years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
