George Eberly

Br. George Eberly, OFM, was born Oct. 26, 1910 in Mount Sinai, Long Island, N.Y. After one year at the St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y., he entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1932. He professed temporary vows there one year later and made his solemn profession in 1936.

He died on Sept. 21, 1937 during his second year of theology at Holy Name College in Washington. He was 26 years old, a professed friar for four years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
