Gabriel Del Mastro

1943 – 1974

Br. Gabriel Del Mastro, OFM, was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Oct. 23, 1943. After graduating from St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y., he was received into the Province’s novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary in Paterson, N.J., July 14, 1963.

He professed temporary vows July 15, 1964, and made his profession of solemn vows June 27, 1970.

Illness during his formation years prevented Br. Gabriel ordination, and he was assigned to Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School in Buffalo, N.Y. where he was a teacher.

He died in New Brunswick, N.J., on June 26, 1974. He was 30 years old and a professed friar for almost 10 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
