Fr. Francis Walsh, OFM, was born on Nov. 28, 1864 at Enniscorthy, Ireland. He entered the Order in 1880 at Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, professing temporary vows one year later. He made his solemn profession in 1884 and was ordained in 1889 in Fulda, Germany.

He served in Germany as a priest for 25 years before coming to America to teach philosophy at St. Bonaventure Seminary in Allegany, N.Y. Fr. Francis taught there for 16 years.

He died on Dec. 3, 1928 in Allegany. Fr. Francis was 64 years old, a professed friar for 47 years and a priest for 39 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
