Tertiary brother Eugene Kernan, OFM, was born in Camden, N.J., on July 29, 1900.

He was received into the Province as a Tertiary Brother on April 30, 1931, and spent his Franciscan life at St. Bonaventure Friary in Paterson, N.J., and St. Anthony Friary in Butler, N.J.

He died Aug. 13, 1936, in St. Joseph Hospital in the Bronx. He was 36 years old and had been a tertiary brother for 5 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
