Edmund Killian

1891 – 1919

Br. Edmund Killiam, OFM, was born on Dec. 22, 1891 in Livingston Manor, N.Y. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Seraphic Seminary, Callicoon, N.Y., he entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1912. He professed temporary vows one year later and made his solemn profession in 1916.

Shortly before his ordination to the deaconate, he died on March 29, 1919 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, during the flu epidemic. Br. Edmund was 28 years old, a professed friar for six years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
