Fr. Dunstan McDevitt, OFM, was born on May 22, 1901 in Hallstead, Pa. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1926, professing temporary vows one year later. Fr. Dunstan made his solemn profession and was ordained in 1930.

He was assigned to parish ministry, work he did with deep faith and genuine dedication for three years. He died on Dec. 18, 1933 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Woodhaven, N.Y. Fr. Dunstan was 32 years old, a professed friar for six years and a priest for four years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
