Br. Didacus Herz, OFM, was born in Roxheim, Germany, on Aug. 1, 1902.

He entered the Province’s novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary in Paterson, N.J., in 1925 and professed his temporary vows the following year. He professed solemn vows on Nov. 13, 1929.

Br. Didacus worked faithfully as a gardener at St. Bonaventure in Paterson.

He died at an early age on Aug. 15, 1934, in Denver. Br. Didacus was 32 years old and a professed friar for seven year.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
