Br. Didacus Feldmann, OFM, was born Sept. 23, 1831 in Muess, Germany. He received the Franciscan habit in Germany in 1855 and made his solemn profession in 1856. During the Kulturkampf, he left Germany and came to America in 1876.

He served the friars for 36 years in the United States. Br. Didacus died on Jan. 29, 1913 in Paterson, N.J. He was 81 years old, a professed friar for 56 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
