Damian Delenk, OFM

1864 – 1916

Br. Damian Delenk, OFM, was born in Bautzen, Germany, on Oct. 25, 1864. He entered the novitiate on Dec. 20, 1890, and professed temporary vows on Christmas Eve 1891.

His solemn vows were professed Jan. 14, 1895. Fr. Damian served faithfully in the kitchen of St. Stephen’s Friary in Croghan, N.Y., and St. Anthony’s Friary in Butler, N.J.

He died in East Rutherford, N.J., May 19, 1916. Br. Damian was 51 years old and a professed friar for 24 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
