Cyril Donnelly, OFM

Cyril Donnelly

1912 – 1950

Fr. Cyril Donnelly, OFM, was born on Aug. 18, 1912 in Scranton, Pa. He entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure in Paterson, N.J., in 1933, professing temporary vows one year later. He made his solemn profession in 1937 and was ordained in 1941.

Ill health plagued Fr. Cyril his entire life, but his casual and joyful disposition, even in sickness, made him a genuinely appreciated friar within his community.

He died on Oct. 28, 1950 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in New York City. Fr. Cyril was 38 years old, a professed friar for 16 years, and a priest for nine years.
