Christopher Ryan, OFM

Fr. Christopher Ryan, OFM, was born on Sept. 22, 1867 in Limerick, Ireland. After teaching with the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, N.Y., he entered the Order in Allegany, N.Y., in 1892, professing temporary vows one year later. He made his solemn profession in 1896 and was ordained in 1897.
He lived but a few years after his ordination, serving as pastoral assistant in New York City, Winsted, Conn., and Buffalo, N.Y.
He died on Feb. 24, 1902 in Buffalo. Fr. Christopher was 34 years old, a professed friar for nine years and a priest for four years.
