Casimir Krysa

1892 – 1942

Fr. Casimir Krysa, OFM, was born on Dec. 22, 1892 in Jersey City, N.J. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y., and entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1910. He professed temporary vows one year later, made his solemn profession in 1916 and was ordained in 1918.

He spent his 24 years of priestly ministry in parochial work at ministries in Buffalo, N.Y., Little Falls, N.J., and Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Fr. Casimir died on Jan. 1, 1942 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Hoboken, N.J. He was 49 years old, a professed friar for 31 years and a priest for 24 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
