Buenaventura Perez, OFM

1915 – 1979

Br. Buenaventura Perez, OFM, was born in Patacamaya, Bolivia, on July 5, 1915.

He was received into the novitiate in 1934 and professed temporary vows on the following year. In 1941, Br. Buenaventura made his solemn profession of vows.

Br. Buenaventura was a member of the Holy Name Custody, and served as a sacristan and helped in the friaries at Oruro, Copacabana, Cochabamba and Tarata. At the time of his death, he was the sacristan at St. Francis Church in La Paz.

He died on Nov. 1, 1979, in La Paz, Bolivia. Br. Buenaventura was 64 years old and a professed friar for 44 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
