Bonaventure Fuchs, OFM

1863 – 1906
Fr. Bonaventure Fuchs, OFM, was born on Sept. 25, 1863 in Worndorf, Germany, His Franciscan life was spent at St. Bonaventure College in Allegany, N.Y. He studied there, and was received into the novitiate there in 1884. He professed temporary vows one year later and made his solemn profession in 1888. He was ordained a priest later that year.
He taught philosophy for four years and theology for 14 years in the seminary there. A prominent moral theologian, Fr. Bonaventure’s advice was frequently sought by members of the hierarchy.
He died on Oct. 27, 1906 in Allegany, N.Y. Fr. Bonaventure was 43 years old, a professed friar for 21 years, and a priest for 17 years.
