Armand Fregault

1921 – 1967

Fr. Armand Fregault, OFM, was born Dec. 9, 1921 in Willimantic, Conn. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Seraphic Seminary, Callicoon, N.Y., he entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1946. He professed temporary vows one year later, made his solemn profession in 1950 and was ordained in 1952.

He spent three years at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New York City before he began preaching missions and retreats, a ministry that occupied the greater part of his life. While preaching, Fr. Armand was based at St. Francis Friary, Providence, R.I., and Our Lady’s Friary in New Bedford, Mass.

He died on April 7, 1967 in New Bedford. Fr. Armand was 45 years old, a professed friar for 19 years and a priest for 14 years.

Each of us should be called a lesser brother, a Friar Minor. Each one of us should wash the feet of the others.”
