Anselm Mueller, OFM

1838 – 1923
Fr. Anselm Mueller, OFM, is remembered by Holy Name Province, even though he was a member of Sacred Heart Province in St. Louis. He was born in Bonn, Germany, in 1838. Fr. Anselm entered the Order in 1857 and was ordained in 1862.
He was appointed by General Minister Fr. Aloysius Lauer, OFM, with jurisdiction over all the friaries of the Allegany, N.Y., Custody, to prepare for the formation of the new American province in 1900.
He died on Dec. 3, 1923 in Joliet, Ill. Fr. Anselm was 85 years old, a professed friar for 65 years, and a priest for almost 61 years.
