A Fiesta at Arch Street

BOSTON-The friars at Arch Street anticipated “Cinco de Mayo” with a celebration May 1. The evening included a festive meal in the friar recreation room with all the typical dishes.

As the friars gathered, Frank McHugh said, “Oh, my goodness!”

In marched two members of a local Mariachi group in full costume, singing favorite Mexican songs. They serenaded the friars as dinner was being served and then joined the friars.

Angela Espinoza, one of the friary cooks, prepared all the foods and invited these two Mariachi singers to surprise the friars. It was truly a surprise and an evening of “fiesta.”
