BOSTON — In preparation for Francis Week at the shrine and our celebration of the feast of Saint Francis, the friar community at Arch Street shared a day of prayer and reflection on Sept. 18 at Miramar Retreat Center in Duxbury, Mass. The day began with coffee and homemade muffins, as the friars gathered in the retreat house dining room.
After all the friars arrived, we gathered in the chapel for an opening prayer service with the theme of Rivo Torto. The reading began, “It was at Rivo Torto that the disciples of poverty enjoyed their happiest days. They told each other of their adventures, the trials undergone, the joys, the sorrows….”
After lunch, Gene Pistacchio facilitated a discussion of vocations. The day included quiet, reflective time and ended with a liturgy celebrated by John Hogan and a buffet supper in the community recreation room.
