Pack your bags and open your hearts — several friars are leading pilgrimages in 2014.
Pope Francis isn’t the only one planning a trip to Israel and Palestine in March 2014. Jacek Orzechowski, OFM, of St. Camillus Parish, Silver Spring, Md., will lead “the trip of a lifetime” to the Holy Land from March 18 to 27, 2014.
Participants will walk the streets of Bethlehem and Jerusalem in the footsteps of Jesus, take a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, and discover the presence of the risen Christ in the midst of the descendants of the first disciples of Jesus who continue to live and worship in the Holy Land. Those interested in attending are invited to contact Jacek at jacek@hnpfriar.org.
For those interested in walking in the footsteps of Francis and exploring their Franciscan roots, John Anglin, OFM, a Ministry of the Word friar, will lead a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi from Oct. 6 to 16, 2014. The trip is being organized by Tekton Ministries of Indiana, which invited John to lead the trip after reading his blog and his book The Wandering Friar. The cost and other details about the pilgrimage will be available at a later date, John said.
