LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The next Interprovincial Retreat is scheduled for Jan. 9 to 13 at Holy Cross Retreat House in Las Cruces.
The annual retreat will be given by Sr. Ramona Miller, a member of the congregational leadership team for the Sisters of St. Francis of Rochester, Minn. She has a wide experience in pastoral ministry in parishes —director of adult faith formation, pastoral associate — and retreat centers, said Br. Bruce Michalek, OFM, chair of the retreat committee. For four years, she served as director of spiritual formation at the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, Calif. Since 1987, she has been a staff member of the Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs, leading pilgrimages to Assisi, Italy.
Sr. Ramona gives presentations and conducts retreats on contemporary aspects of Franciscan spirituality. She is a graduate of the Franciscan Institute, St. Bonaventure University, and is author of In the Footsteps of Saint Clare, and co-author of Praying With Clare of Assisi.
The retreat’s theme is “Clare: How has this remarkable saint affected the friars over the centuries? What do her writings suggest to us for the future Franciscan presence in North America?”
The retreat is open to all friars of English-speaking Conference provinces in the United States.
Registration forms will be available at the end of the summer, according to Br. Bruce, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province. He said he announced the retreat early in the year because he “wanted to make sure that the friars have ample time to mark the date in their calendars.”
