Friars and partners-in-ministry have an opportunity to go on three pilgrimages to Biblical lands next year, sponsored by St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y., and Washington Theological Union. Holy Name friars are leading two of the trips.

St. Bonaventure University is sponsoring a two-week interfaith pilgrimage to explore the religious, historical, political and cultural dimensions of Palestine and Israel next May. Michael Calabria, OFM, of the SBU Department of Modern Languages, and Sr. Suzanne Kush, CSSF, of the Franciscan Center for Social Concern, will lead the trip.
Participants will visit some of the most sacred places of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, as well as important archaeological sites. In addition, there will be opportunities to provide service to a school, orphanage and refugee camp, and meet religious leaders and those involved in the peace process.

Two Washington Theological Union professors are leading a study pilgrimage to Turkey and Greece May 16 to 26. Fr. Joseph Mindling, OFM Cap, and Fr. Joseph Wimmer, OSA, are leading “John, Paul and the Early Church.”
The total tour rate, including airfare and accommodations, and a $100 tax-deductible donation to WTU, is $3,590 per person, double occupancy. It includes four nights at three-star hotels in Turkey, five nights at two-star hotels in Greece, daily buffet breakfast, nine dinners at hotels, sightseeing, tour guides, transportation and entry fees to sites and museums.
