MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The friars of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph here are commemorating 150 years of service that their nearly 100 friars have given to foreign countries. These friars were honored at a sesquicentennial liturgy in Detroit on Aug. 12 at St. Bonaventure Monastery. Photos are shown in the province’s Aug. 31 edition of its newsletter, Weekly ReCap.
Twenty-eight friars, of the surviving 52 who have served in foreign countries for the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, who were present at the celebration are shown in photo.
Eight novices are currently with the province’s formation program based at the newly-established novitiate in Burlington, Wis. An investiture was held July 30, according to the province’s newsletter.
